Hear what happened when family pets from across Petersfield and far beyond brought their owners to St Peter’s Church for a unique pets’ service.
The Reverend Will Hughes, Vicar of Petersfield and Rector of Buriton led the service to celebrate pets and the loving roles they play in the lives of local families.
The congregation included dogs Rufus, Charlie, Max and Rum, Somnus the tortoise, Dobby the cat and a rabbit. For many it was their first time in church.
Report by Noni Needs of Petersfield Community Radio. Recorded on 7 May 2019.
The service was organised by Ruth Pyke, children’s advisor St Alban’s Diocese, Reverend Sue Hart, Salisbury Diocese and adapted from A service for the Blessing of Animals by The Society of St. Francis.
Thanks also to assistant curate Sam Cullen, Reverend Helen Mitchell and the rest of the parish team.
