Petersfield’s weekly magazine show, with Claire Vennis and Joff Lacey.

… with pre-lockdown hairstyles

This week, Joff and Claire chat with writer Greg Mosse about his career and the Weald and Downland Living Museum’s historical fiction short story competition, and you can experience the relaxing voice of holistic therapist Helen Adams, who talks about her new wellness series.

There is also the far-from-relaxing voice of the Petersfield Post‘s Jon Walker, who joins us while he is searching for sea eagles; the mellifluous tones of author and walker Suzie Wilde; the informed delivery of financial expert Martin Bamford; and the melodic meteorological musings of Richard Marks. There’s also the second in a new series of 60-Second Histories, brought to you by the team at Petersfield Museum.

Plus, Joff embarrasses himself in the garden … twice.

This edition of the P pod was recorded remotely, with Claire in Langrish, Joff on Herne Farm, and producer and editor Dave Bowers on his last legs.

COMPETITION DETAILS

The Weald and Downland Living Museum is inviting entries to its historical fiction short story – and you’ve got plenty of time to produce your entry as the closing date is not until 5pm on Friday, 4 September 2020.

There are two categories:

  • Historical fiction short stories, which relate to an aspect of the collection (houses or artefacts) of the Weald & Downland Living Museum, and are set between the years 900AD and 1930.
  • Or historical fiction short stories, which are simply set anywhere in that same time period.

This competition is for adults, although there is a separate under-18s’ competition too. Here the categories are:

  • An illustrated story – or picture book – of up to 100 words, aimed predominantly at children in year two or below; or
  • A story of between 400 and 600 words, which you may or may not choose to illustrate.

Entries must be original stories written by the entrant (though a little help with spelling is considered acceptable)
