Local news stories
A Petersfield charity has joined a national scheme to boost its fundraising.
HomeStart Buster provides help, friendship, advice and support during a child’s early years.
And in the first week of December, every pound they raise through the Big Give Christmas Challenge will be matched, up to twenty eight thousand pounds.

Good news for people in Petersfield who can’t wait to book a cruise holiday in 2021.
A new 55 million pound cruise terminal is set to open next year in Southampton, the preferred port of departure for many Petersfield holidaygoers.
The long-awaited fifth cruise terminal is also expected to bring a multi-million pound boost to the economy of our area.
Bosses have said the opening will cement the port “as Europe’s leading cruise turn-around port and the UK’s number one departure port” and mark a “major milestone” in the area’s post-COVID recovery.
A specific date hasn’t been announced yet but Associated British Ports said it would be open for the 2021 cruise season
Hampshire environmental campaigners have signed-up hundreds of companies to back an anti-plastic agenda
The Final Straw Foundation has been working with local businesses to encourage them to ditch single-use plastics from their operations.
The organisation has had success in its work and over 400 organisations have joined the campaign so far, including Portsmouth FC, Gosport Submarine Museum and the Package-Free Larder in Southsea.
We’d like to hear of companies in Petersfield who have agreed to join the scheme.
The foundation is always on the look out for new volunteers and to find out more about them go to their website, a link to which will be at petersfieldradio.uk
Here it is…
It looks as if the Town Visitor centre in the Square will close, despite objections.
Laura Sheppard has been looking into the matter.
The Petersfield Post is reporting that Town councillors are set to go ahead with plans to stop funding Petersfield’s visitor facility, close the office, lay off the staff and rely on an online information service in future.
East Hampshire council stopped subsidising the service in April and since then the Town Council ring-fenced more than 130 thousand pounds to keep it going.
But that plan runs out in March.
Now the Town Council has a choice between running a visitor’s office out of the Festival Hall, away from the centre of town, or moving everything online which is cheaper.
Councillors have backed the lower cost option, subject to later ratification by the full council.
One of Petersfield’s supermarkets is warning of a shortage of delivery slots this Christmas
It might only be November but Tesco is already urging Christmas shoppers to prepare for the seasonal period and has published tips for stress-free Christmas shopping.
The company released a statement online warning customers that they are already experiencing “high demand” for online delivery.
To put people at ease, the shopping giant has issued a list of tips to make the ordering process stress-free.

Road works on Rams Hill continue to bug motorists in Petersfield.
Four way traffic lights are controlling the junctions with Kingsfernsden Lane and Barentin Way.
Expect delays on all approaches particularly around school drop-off and pick-up times.
In Hill Brow, Milland Road is closed between the Jolly Drover and the Rogate Turn.
Just West of Petersfield there’s water works on Winchester Road close to the A3 Roundabout on the Stroud [STROOD] side. Look out for temporary traffic lights there.
Down in Droxford there’s a diversion on Wickham Road – that’s for county council work.
West Sussex county council is picking litter and cutting the verges of the A 2070 London Road in Milland.
And around Petersfield there are minor works planned on Charles Street, Frenchamans Road, Heathfield Road, Winton Road, Moggs Mead, Sussex Road and The Avenue. If you live in any of those places, good luck!
