A Gathering of Poets: Readings and Conversation- Online Event

Saturday 3 October @ 14:00 - 15:00

Join poets Daljit Nagra, Yvonne Riddick, Matthew Hollis and Zaffar Kunial for a vibrant session of poetry readings and an exploration of what Edward Thomas means to them and their work.

This exciting session brings together four very different poets each with their unique style and identity and shares their work with you in your own home.

This poetry reading will take place over Zoom.

Meet the Poets.

Daljit Nagra: Daljit’s four poetry collections, all with Faber & Faber, have won the Forward Prize for Best Individual Poem and Best First Book, the South Bank Show Decibel Award and the Cholmondeley Award, and been shortlisted for the Costa Prize and twice for the TS Eliot Prize. Daljit is a PBS New Generation Poet whose poems have appeared in The New Yorker, the LRB and the TLS, and his journalism in the FT and The Guardian. The inaugural Poet-in-Residence for Radio 4 & 4 Extra, he presents the weekly Poetry Extra, and serves on the Council of the Royal Society of Literature, and teaches at Brunel University London.

Matthew Hollis: Matthew Hollis was born in 1971. Ground Water (Bloodaxe, 2004) was shortlisted for the Guardian First Book Award and the Whitbread Prize for Poetry. He is co-editor of Strong Words (Bloodaxe, 2000), 101 Poems Against War (Faber, 2003) and editor of Selected Poems of Edward Thomas (Faber, 2011). Now All Roads Lead to France: the Last Years of Edward Thomas (Faber, 2011; Norton, 2012) won the Costa Biography Award and was Sunday Times Biography of the Year. In 2016 he published limited letterpress and handmade pamphlets, Stones (Incline Press, 2016) and East (Clutag Press, 2016).
