Green Ribbon History Lecture: Robert Gerwarth
Thursday 27 February @ 19:30 - 20:30Free
The Green Ribbon lecture is the annual Bedales Senior History Society talk, named in honour of the Green Ribbon worn by the Levellers, radical proto-democrats of the 1640s and 1650s. This year, Robert Gerwarth is giving the lecture, titled Why the First World War Failed to End. Robert Gerwarth is Professor of Modern History at University College Dublin. He graduated with a DPhil from Oxford University where he also held a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship. His last book, The Vanquished (Penguin, 2016), won several prizes and has been translated into twenty languages. It was named a “Book of the Year” by the Financial Times, Times Literary Supplement and the London Review of Books.
This event is part of the Bedales Events Spring/Summer 2020 programme, which is open to all. We nourish and inspire community with events that have head, hand and heart at their core.
